Harold reunites with Lowe at the Jacks

Former Perth Glory forward Chris Harold has reunited with old boss Kenny Lowe after signing for defending NPL Western Australia Champions ECU Joondalup.

Harold made 143 A-League appearances for the Glory - a record for the club - and lifted the A-League Premiers trophy with the club in 2018/2019.

A former Australian youth international, Harold also had stints at Gold Coast United and Central Coast Mariners in the national top flight, amassing 25 goals.

The 28-year-old left professional football last season to concentrate on his law studies, but after speaking to Lowe about the opportunity to play for the Jacks he can’t wait to return to the pitch.

“I think reconnecting with Kenny was the major draw card for me coming to ECU,” Harold told www.ecujoondalup.com.au.

“Not considering all the other aspects of joining the club, having such a positive pre-existing relationship with Kenny was what got me excited to come and play.

“We know how each other operate and I respect how he looks after his players and invests in people.

“Coming from a professional context, the environment that I knew he’d create is exactly what I was chasing. The first impressions have been great, and I like what the club is trying to implement here.”

Harold also insisted he is not simply making up the numbers in 2021 – with silverware firmly in his sights for his new club.

“I can already sense there’s an eagerness from within the playing group and the coaching staff to get better and not rest on the success of last year,” Harold explained.

“I will bring some valuable experience to the group which I believe will only make us stronger and more successful, along with the other players we have bought in and quality players we have retained.

ECU Joondalup will step up the preparations for the upcoming season at the end of the month when they contest the traditional Night Series prior to the NPL WA season proper.
