Cannons land ex-Western United defender Dillon

NPL Victoria club Oakleigh Cannons FC have confirmed former A-League defender Oskar Dillon will line up for the club in 2021.

The 21-year-old made seven appearances for Western United in the A-League 2019/20 campaign, contributing to a clean sheet in his professional debut against Central Coast Mariners.

Dillon will look to further strengthen an already solid Cannons defence in the upcoming season as the club looks to claim its first NPL Victoria silverware.

To that end, and despite his young years, Dillon already boasts plenty of big game experience at NPL level - delivering the winning goal for Gold Coast Knights in the NPL Queensland 2019 Grand Final with a 25 yard free-kick.

That season saw Dillon named the NPL Queensland Young Player of the Year, and he told oakleighcannonsfc.com.au he is aiming translate that success to NPL Victoria this coming year.

"There are some really good players at this club," Dillon said.

"I wanted to come down to a winning team and I know we’ll be right up there at the end of the season.

"I’m looking forward to playing regular football and I know this competition is strong so it’ll be good to have a tough game week in week out," he concluded.

The Cannons kick-off their NPL Victoria season away to Avondale FC on Saturday, February 27.
