Altona Magic sign A-League legend Vince Lia

Altona Magic have confirmed A-League Premiership and Championship winner Vince Lia has signed with the club for the NPL Victoria 2021 season.

The signing of the experienced 35-year-old is a shot in the arm for Magic supporters, as they look forward to seeing their team return to the pitch after their 2020 campaign was cut short due to COVID-19.

Lia is a former Australian youth international and amassed a total of 259 appearances across 14 seasons in the A-League.

He most recently played for Perth Glory in the A-League, following prior stints with Melbourne Victory, Wellington Phoenix and Adelaide United.

In 2007, he won the A-League Premiership-Championship double with the Victory, and also twice lifted the FFA Cup with Adelaide in 2018 and 2019.

Lia, who originally hails from Shepparton, made his professional debut for South Melbourne in the National Soccer League.

Magic stated on their Facebook page: " We are thrilled and honoured to welcome a player of this calibre to Altona and we wish Vince all the best for the upcoming year."
