Jesic excited about NPL NSW season opener

Marconi Stallions’ experienced star attacker Marko Jesic is looking forward to kicking off the National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s season on the right foot as the former NSL giants take on a talented Sydney FC NPL outfit on Friday 26th of February at the ‘Palace’.

The 31-year-old understood the match against Jimmy Van Weeren’s youthful brigade would by no means be an easy one and stated his troops needed to be focused from the first minute for a successful season opener.

“The boys are looking forward to the start of the new season and we’ve trained very hard during pre-season to get to this point of being ready for the first match of the year," he told nplnsw.com.au

“Sydney FC always have good young talent on display so we know what we will be up against.

“We need to be switched on mentally from the opening whistle to ensure we get a positive result that will carry momentum for our next match.”

One player that Jesic was hoping to link up with was the club’s prized signing of former Sydney Olympic and NSW Blues representative Charles Lokolingoy.

The big striker however this week penned a deal with A-League side Wellington Phoenix till the end of the season.

“It’s a great move for Charles, we as a club want to wish him all the best and hope he does well at the Phoenix.

“It’s tough losing a player like him as we did work around Charles during pre-season but we know we have the players that will do what’s needed for us to win matches.”

A win at all costs character and player, Jesic will no doubt be one of Peter Tsekenis’ key men in hopefully bringing success and silverware to the club for the 2021 season.
