PS4 NPL SA Round 15 Review

A battle between two of the top three went down to wire in a big weekend of PlayStation 4 NPL South Australia.

MetroStars v Adelaide Comets

In a game of two halves, it was MetroStars who willed themselves over the line in hard fought 2-1 victory over a determined Adelaide Comets, in their PlayStation 4 National Premier League Round 15 clash at T.K Shutter Reserve.

Metro were completely out pointed in the first half by a more organised Comets side. The first half was mainly played in the middle third of the park as Metro struggled to penetrate the opposition defence with any fluency.

Comets jumped a very lethargic Metro unit who seemed to be in slow motion for most of the first half, which allowed the visitors to hit the scoreboard early when Allan Welsh played a neat through ball into the path of Lewis Farquhar who raced into the box and drilled a shot past a scrambling Isaac Carmody.

Metro struggled to get any input from their usual prime movers Fabian Barbiero and Liam Wooding as the Comets midfielders in Nathan Andijanto, Allan Welsh and Doni Pollock blanketed their influence.

Adelaide Blue Eagles v Adelaide City

Adelaide City extend their lead at the top of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League table after a 5-0 win against Adelaide Blue Eagles.

A hattrick for Anthony Costa was the highlight of the afternoon, Joel Allwright and Daniel Filosi also netted a goal each.

The opening few minutes were very even, but eventually the Blue Eagles defense faltered and gave Adelaide City several chances to get on the scoreboard early on.

Adelaide City kept the relentless pressure going for the first half hour, with constant balls down the left side to Mamadi Kamara, who found his way around the Blue Eagles defenders all afternoon.

A couple of free kicks outside the box for City couldn’t hit the mark, nor could header by Costa from a corner kick.

It took 28 minutes for the Blue Eagles to have their first shot on goal, but Adelaide City keeper Luke Ostbye had no difficulty in stopping the harmless attempt.

Adelaide United Youth v Cambelltown City

Adelaide United came out on top with a glorious 1-0 win over Campbelltown City in Round 15 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues at The Parks Football Centre on Saturday.

Adelaide United have bounced back from their defeat last week against Adelaide City, as they successfully vanquished the defending Champions.

Pacifique Niyonabire’s finish connecting off of a stunning Blake Carpenter cross, sealed a well-deserved win after a dominant second half.

United take the much-needed three points with them up to ninth on the league standings, while the Red Devils sit two spots above them, on 18 points.
