Wolves snap up Antelmi

Wollongong Wolves First Grade coach Jacob Timpano has confirmed the club has added Patrick Antelmi to its squad for the 2017 season.

“Signing Patrick is a huge coup for the Wolves and gives us an attacking edge up front that is going to prove very dangerous for anyone we come up against. Patrick was swamped with offers from rival clubs and adding someone of his class and pedigree to our team will give us a lot of confidence heading into the new season.”

Antelmi, an Australian Joeys U17s representative was signed as a 15 year old by English club Portsmouth and after stints with the youth squads of Leeds and Wigan returned home to continue his career, winning the PlayStation4 National Premier League title last year with Blacktown City, scoring a crucial goal in the decider. Still only 22 years old he brings a level of professionalism, quality and proven goal scoring ability that will instantly make him a fan favourite.

“Football has always been my passion and there is no greater feeling in the world for me than banging the ball into the back of net. I have never been fitter or more excited about an upcoming season and I just can’t wait for our first game.

Signing with the Wolves was a simple decision for me. I could have easily gone with some of the other offers tabled which were significantly more lucrative, but for me, it’s never been about money. I just want to play somewhere where I know we are going to play attractive football and have a very competitive team with a strong culture. The Wolves were the perfect fit.”
