Wolves to play two curtain raisers prior to A-League matches

National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s side Wollongong Wolves FC have announced that it will play two double headers with the Wellington Phoenix FC during the month of March.

The two clubs have forged a close relationship since Wellington Phoenix arrived in Wollongong to base themselves for their 2021 A-League campaign.

The two matches are designed to give the Illawarra and South Coast football and general sporting communities the chance to watch an NPL and an A-League match on the same afternoon.

Wolves Head Coach Luke Wilkshire told nplnsw.com.au he is delighted with the opportunity of his NPL side gaining national exposure.

“We are looking forward to playing at WIN Stadium prior to Wellington Phoenix’s match against Perth Glory.

“We have forged a strong relationship with the Phoenix and we are looking to support them in whatever capacity we can whilst they are in Wollongong.

“Our club still has a strong desire to be included in the A-League in the future and it is important that Wollongong and the South Coast shows its support during these matches that the Phoenix play in Wollongong.

“The eyes of the APL and FA will be watching to see how our community supports these games, so it is important that football and sports fans in general turn out in numbers at WIN Stadium.  Two high level games for the price of one is great value.”

In appreciation of the relationship, Wellington Phoenix will wear a red kit for both matches.
