Sharks appoint Co-Captains for 2021 season

National Premier League side Sutherland Sharks have announced that Lachlan Everett and Patrick O’Shea have been given Co-Captaincy roles for the 2021 season.

Sharks coach Nick Dimovski stated to Football NSW that both players were rewarded for their loyalty to the club by handing them both the armband.

“Patrick O’Shea and Lachlan Everett have been superb Club men for the Sharks.

“They have bled blue and white for the Sharks for quite some time and thoroughly deserve their opportunity to Co-Captain the side.

“We have a young squad this year that’s different to past seasons but both players display the right qualities to build foundations around them.”

23-year-old Everett was delighted to have been given the honour of skippering the Sharks this season.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to be at Sutherland for 5 years, it’s a family-oriented club and I love that.

“From day one I was welcomed with open arms and the club has remained as supportive since.

“The environment in the squad this year is second to none. Nick has a talent for putting together a strong and balanced squad, it’s such a great group of lads and staff. We have a perfect mix of young talented players along with experienced players to guide and mentor them.

“This year seems different to others. There’s a spark in the changerooms that you don’t see too often. I’m really excited to see what we can produce this season.

“The squad is continuing to grow together and we’re definitely taking steps in the right direction to achieve our goal of competing in finals football this season.

“After being privileged to be the Under 20’s Captain, I am honoured to be Co-Captain alongside Patty O’Shea. Patty is not only a top footballer but a great guy and I’m excited to work with him.”

While for 24-year-old O’Shea, it was a dream come true skippering the club he started out as a young twelve-year-old.

“I’m a Shire local and started my journey at the club as a 12-years-old and made my way through the youth ranks. I’m excited to Captain this team alongside Lachie Everett and lead a top group of players.

“The club has always had a big family culture and the ability to produce great players within our rich history.

“Everyone has been putting in the hard work on the pitch and are ready for Round 1 and we’ve had plenty of games during pre-season which has helped with giving the new players time to gel.

“We’ve got an exciting squad with a strong mix of quality youngsters and experienced players and we cannot wait for the season to commence.”

Sutherland Sharks’ first match of the season will be against Mile Sterjovski’s Northbridge Bulls on Saturday 27th of February at the Fairfield Showgrounds.
