Sasa Ognenovski to be mic'd up in NPL Victoria first

NPL Victoria fans are set for unprecedented access to former Socceroos star and Dandenong City coach Sasa Ognenovski as the competition rolls into its second week.

In a first for the sport in Victoria, this Friday night's NPL broadcast will feature live, in-play crosses to Ognenovski on the sideline as his side tackle St Albans Saints at the Frank Holohan Soccer Complex (Kick-off at 8:30pm AEDT).

Viewers will benefit from unique insight into the tactics of the game as it unfolds from the 22 times capped Socceroos defender, who was recognised as the AFC Asian Player of the Year in 2010.

The match will be broadcast live on NPL Victoria's Facebook and YouTube platforms.

Following their opening round derby draw against Dandenong Thunder, Ognenovski's side will be eager to notch their first three points of the campaign in front of their home fans.

Viewers will also benefit from expert insight throughout the match broadcast with the play-by-play call featuring respected Fox Sports Commentator Michael Zappone, alongside former Socceroo Gary Cole.

Football Victoria's General Manager of NPL, Ezel Hikmet, told www.footballvictoria.com.au it was important FV continued to innovate and provide fans of the game with a different perspective.

“We are thrilled that Sasa has agreed to bring viewers of the game into the inner sanctum," he said.

"I’m sure it will make for fascinating viewing.

"He is a player who has represented his country with great distinction and is now proving himself as a coach in the NPL and we look forward to hearing his insights this Friday night.

Hikmet also hinted at further innovations in NPL Victoria broadcasts this season as the competition makes its long-awaited return after seeing its 2020 season scuttled by COVID-19.

“Our objective is to continue to provide our fans with a different perspective of our game and we look forward to further exciting announcements in coming weeks," he said.
