Reuben finds his Way back to the Village

Heidelberg United’s 2019 player roster has been boosted with the return of the versatile Reuben Way. The talented 28-year-old left footer is back at the Olympic Village following a stint in the Hyundai A-League with Wellington Phoenix.

Way is glad to be back playing amongst familiar faces and will use his experience in Wellington as a springboard into the 2019 Victorian NPL season.

“You don’t really appreciate how great (a place) Melbourne is until you leave. It was a great experience – playing full-time as a footballer and really experiencing what a full-time footballing life is about.”

Way is hoping to draw on the experience, where he was able to learn from a wider pool of talented people. He spoke of the transition from being an established and regular senior player at Heidelberg United to being considered a 28-year-old ‘rookie’ in the A-League ranks at Wellington.

“It (2018) was a long year, and I had little time for a break through to the 2018/2019 A-League season, and initially, it took a bit of a toll on my body.”

With the start of the Victorian NPL season imminent, all ‘Berger fans will be keen to see the mercurial Reuben Way back in the #7 guernsey, as George Katsakis’ team takes aim for further success and trophies in 2019.
