PS4 Victory League kicks off

The Playstation 4 Victory League kicks off this weekend with a bumper opening weekend at the home of football, KGV Football Park.

All four games will take place at KGV, with all eight clubs facing off against their closest rival from 2014.

The season kicks off with the top two from 2014, Hobart Jeep Zebras and South Hobart facing off under lights from 7:00PM on Friday night.

It should be a fiery opening to a year between two teams who will be looking to fight it out at the top for silverware this season and many are picking it this season to be the best season of the PS4 Victory League yet. Zebras and South always produce tight and intriguing tussles. They met twice in the Summer Cup, with both meetings nail biters, South Hobart beat Zebras 3-2 in Round 1 and in the last meeting between the pair, Zebras proceeded into the Summer Cup final on penalties.

Hobart Jeep Zebras have brought in two new boom recruits in Scottish ‘keeper Graham Wright and English defender Nathan Cook ahead of the clash, while South Hobart will be without one of their big recruits in Alex Leszczynski, who has an overhanging suspension from his time at Hobart Jeep Zebras.

On Saturday, the action continues with a triple header at KGV Football Park. The new-look Glenorchy Knights will face-off against Launceston City at 1:00PM, a team that has been quietly building at Mitsubishi Park.

There has been a lot of buzz out of the Lion’s den (Lightwood Park) ahead of the season, with Kingborough looking to climb the table and press their claim for a position in the top four. The Lions will face a stern test first up, up against Devonport Strikers from 3:15PM.

The final match of the round will see Olympia FC Warriors and Northern Rangers square of from 5:30PM. The two clubs shared points throughout 2014 and their only meeting so far in 2015, produced a 5-5 normal time result before the Warriors snatched a Summer Cup Grand Final spot from a penalty shootout. If that result is anything to go off, it should be a pulsating clash between two top four teams from 2014.
