Shared spoils at Percy Doyle

Joondalup United and Stirling Lions each took a point and a clean sheet from a tightly contested 0-0 draw at Percy Doyle Reserve on Saturday.

The physical nature of the contest was reflected in ten yellow cards, five per team, with five of those ten cards issued in a heated seven-minute period late in the first half.

Inglewood score late to salvage a draw with Glory

Inglewood United shared the points in a 1-1 draw with Perth Glory in round nine of the PS4 NPLWA season at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium on Saturday.

Glory took the lead thanks to a penalty near the end of the first half, but Inglewood responded with a penalty of their own in the 87th minute.

League leaders escape with a point

League leaders Sorrento left Dalmatinac Park as the second best team on Saturday afternoon as a strong Cockburn City performance wasn’t enough to claim all three points in a 1-1 draw.

With Sorrento unbeaten all season heading into the fixture, an obvious height and physical advantage went to Sorrento, with the Gulls seizing control of the game early to go 1-0 up after nine minutes.

Goalless draw ground out at Grindleford

Balcatta and Perth SC produced a feisty scoreless-draw on a warm Saturday afternoon at Grindleford Reserve. 

During a tepid first-half Francis Soales impressed most in the Perth goal, first by turning a Paddy Quinn close-range effort around the post and then moments later using his knees to block a near-post shot from Calum O’Connell.

Tactics win the day as Armadale dominate Floreat

Armadale’s potent counter-attacking trio Kyle King, Joshua Tomue and Papa Kpatar were all target with a 3-0 win at Alfred Skeet Reserve on Saturday.

Armadale coach John O’Reilly praised his team’s performance, calling it their best of the season.

“Last week we got our tactics wrong, so for this week and the next block of games we need to be a defensive team. 

“What we did for this game is a bit of a forward thinking plan that we are setting in motion for the next several weeks.

Bayswater and ECU Joondalup share the spoils

Bayswater City and ECU Joondalup fought out an entertaining 2-2 in round nine of the PS4 National Premier League WA at Finance 365 Arena on Saturday afternoon.

After dominating early the home side found themselves two goals down, with Daryl Nicol and Tommy Amphlett on target. 

Borbor Sam pulled one back before half time before a strike from Devon Gibson five minutes from time, gave both sides a share of the spoils.
