PS4 NPL WA Round 16 Preview

Perth SC coach Ramon Falzon is quietly confident his side can continue their winning streak in Sunday’s top-of-the-table PS4 NPL WA clash against Floreat Athena at E&D Litis Stadium.

With a 100 percent record in their past four matches, Perth have climbed to the top of the table with a superior goal difference separating them from second-placed Floreat.

“Three of those wins were away from home, and in our two recent games against Mandurah and Stirling we’ve managed to keep two clean sheets as well,” Falzon said.

“We’re peaking at the right time and I expect the boys to back themselves up after those wins and try to bring home the fifth one.

“I know it’s a top of the table clash at the moment, but at the same time it’s three points up for grabs as usual.

“Things that matter are those at the end of the year and not where we stand at the moment, so we know that these three points on Sunday can be very important so we’ll just focus on that.”

Floreat coach Glen Grostate said his side was well prepared for the clash.

“We’ve had quite an intense training session on Tuesday night… we worked on some formulas last night so we’re all ready to go,” he said.

“A top of the table clash is always big - equal points, a lot to play for, so we’re all excited about that.

“Ramon and Perth are a big club just like Floreat are, and they’re going to come out wanting to win the game to stay top of the table. It’ll be a tough fight because when you play Perth they’ve got a big squad so we’re expecting a battle.”

Sorrento, who sit just one point behind Floreat and Perth, will travel to Securitas Protect Stadium to take on Mandurah City on Saturday, while Inglewood United face Subiaco at Rosalie Park.

ECU Joondalup moved to fifth on the league ladder last week and will take on Stirling Lions at Macedonia Park on Saturday, as Joondalup United look to bounce back from a 2-0 loss to Mandurah City last week when they entertain Perth Glory at Percy Doyle Reserve.

Bayswater City will, who were defeated in last week’s league by Subiaco and in the Westfield FFA Cup by the Western Knights, will aim to bring back their form when they host Cockburn City at Finance 365 Stadium, and Balcatta will host Armadale at Grindleford Reserve.
