Principato leveller denies Bentleigh

Bentleigh Greens missed the chance to close in on the PS4 NPL Victoria premiership after a 1-1 draw against Avondale on Friday night at Kingston Heath.

A header from Tyson Holmes in the 15th minute gave the home side the lead before a deflected shot from Jason Principato early in the second half salvaged a point for the visitors.

South Melbourne secured a vital 4-2 win against Port Melbourne Sharks on Friday night to continue its pursuit of PS4 NPL Victoria leaders Bentleigh Greens.

Doubles for Milos Lujic and Nick Epifano saw off a spirited Port Melbourne at Lakeside Stadium.

Green Gully and Pascoe Vale played out a one all draw at Green Gully Reserve on Saturday afternoon. 

Matthew Breeze’s chip in the 19th minute put the home side ahead before Pascoe Vale then equalised just past the hour mark through Davey Van’t Schip’s header.

Thunder strike shakes up relegation battle

Dandenong Thunder secured a crucial 1-0 victory against the Oakleigh Cannons at George Andrews Reserve on Saturday evening as the battle against relegation in PS4 NPL Victoria heats up.

Defender Faisal Sakhizada’s drive from range in the 26th minute proved to be the difference between the two sides as Stuart Munro’s men picked up their first victory in 14 games.

Late goal denies North Geelong

North Geelong Warriors snared a valuable point but failed to match the exploits of their relegation rivals after a 3-3 draw against Heidelberg United in PS4 NPL Victoria on Sunday.

Heidelberg very nearly snatched all three points after equalising in stoppage time and missing a gilt-edged chance to win the match at Olympic Village.

Melbourne Knights prevailed 2-0 winners on Sunday afternoon as they defeated Hume City in a one-sided PS4 NPL Victoria contest at Knights Stadium.

A first half full of goalmouth action saw goals from Stipo Andrijasevic and Robbie Zadworny which was enough to secure the three points for the hosts.

Bees secure vital win

Bobby Vidanoski opened the scoring for the hosts with an opportunistic strike in the first half, which was subsequently cancelled out by Calvin Mbarga just five minutes later.

Northcote had looked set to score at any moment to take the lead, but got caught on the sucker punch when Milan Savic dispossesed Chris Theodoridis to tap into an empty net.
