A come from behind 1-2 win over Oakleigh Cannons has seen Pascoe Vale move up to fifth place on the NPL Victoria ladder.

Dusan Bosnjak gave the home side the lead from the penalty spot, before Tomislav Milardovic scored his second goal in two weeks to level the scores. Youngster Matthew Lazarides scored the winner in the second half for the visitors.

Northcote too strong for out of form Port Melbourne

Northcote City has secured a vital three points in the race for a top six spot with a 2-0 victory against Port Melbourne on Friday night at JL Murphy Reserve.

Despite starting the game the stronger of the two sides, Port Melbourne fell away following an opener from James Kalifatidis and a long range free kick from Marinos Gasparis as the Sharks continue to search for a win in six matches.

Weary Hume City overcome inefficient Warriors

A weary Hume City has overcome an inefficient North Geelong in a tight tussle at Elcho Park on Saturday afternoon, with the only goal of the game coming from a Theo Markelis strike in the first half.

Fronting up just days after their triumphant midweek FFA Cup clash with Kingston City, the visitors scored the game’s solitary goal in the 40th minute, to ease back into fifth spot on the ladder.

Knights defeat tricky Thunder side

Melbourne Knights have defeated Dandenong Thunder 2-1 on Saturday night in a free-flowing affair at George Andrews Reserve.

The Knights went into half time with a 2-0 lead courtesy of James McGarry and a Stipo Andrijasevic penalty. An improved Thunder display in the second half, which included a sublime Brodie Paterson lob, was not enough as the visitors held on for the win.

Gully sends Werribee into relegation spot

In a good old fashioned relegation six-pointer, Gully pushed clear of the bottom three in what was a routine win for the visitors.

First half goals to Matthew Breeze and Evan Christodoulou did the job for Green Gully to earn their sixth win of the campaign.

Bentleigh Greens have prevailed with a 1-0 away victory over South Melbourne in Sunday’s top of the table clash at Lakeside Stadium.

A solitary second half goal from Chris Lucas proved to be the difference between the two sides in a tight contest where chances were few and far between.

Stubborn Avondale earn late point off Bergers

A last gasp equaliser from Zoran Pajic has sealed a 1-1 draw for Avondale FC against Heidelberg United at Olympic Village on Sunday.

The hosts bossed large periods of the match and took the lead through a Steven Pace header. But Avondale would not lie down and got their reward with an equaliser deep into stoppage time.
