Lucas double helps Bentleigh to convincing win over Thunder

Bentleigh Greens have recorded a convincing 3-1 victory over Dandenong Thunder at Kingston Heath Soccer Complex on Friday night to stretch their undefeated start to the campaign to 14 games.

A double from Chris Lucas and an early strike Tyson Holmes sealed all three points for John Anastasiadis’ men, as Yusuf Ahmed’s tenth goal of the season proved to be a mere consolation for Thunder.

Super South puts seven past North Geelong

A devastating second half from South Melbourne has led it to a 7-1 thrashing of cellar dweller North Geelong on Friday night.

Despite the absence of talismanic striker Milos Lujic, South suffered no problems as it thrashed the hapless Warriors to move top of the ladder.

25-yard Bosnjak free kick leads Oakleigh to win over Gully

A cracking Dusan Bosnjak free kick has led Oakleigh Cannons to a 1-0 win over Green Gully 1-0 on Friday night at Jack Edwards Reserve.

The goal, scored after half an hour of play, proved to be the winner as Oakleigh staved off a second half fight-back from Gully with John Honos making a string of fine saves.

Resilient Paco holds on for win over Port

Pascoe Vale has jumped into the top six with a 1-0 triumph over an impressive Port Melbourne outfit on Friday night at CB Smith Reserve.

An Adam Nakic volley midway through the first half was enough for a stubborn Paco side to grind out a result in typical fashion.

Avondale, Hume share points as new boys star

A five minute burst at the beginning of the second half saw Paul Harvey put the visitors ahead in the 48th minute. The lead lasted all of two minutes with one of Avondale’s new signings, Jacob Colosimo, finding an equaliser.

Barisic double sees Knights defeat Northcote

A double from Andrew Barisic has helped Melbourne Knights prevail over Northcote City 2-1 at John Cain Memorial Park on Saturday.

The striker scored near the start, and end, of the affair to seal the result for the visitors despite a late consolation from James Kalifatidis.

Heidelberg goes top with win over Werribee

A surprisingly even contest at Olympic Village has seen Heidelberg United run out 1-0 winners over Werribee City to return to the summit of the PlayStation 4 NPL Victoria table.

A lone strike from Dan Heffernan was enough for the Bergers to claim victory, although they had their defence to thank for the result as they stood firm to deny the swarming Bees an equaliser.
