South Melbourne has regained top spot after seeing off a determined Northcote City 2-1 at John Cain Memorial Park on Saturday afternoon.

Matthew Theodore put the visitors ahead before James Kalifatidis cancelled out the goal soon after. But a second half header from Milos Lujic settled a well-contested match.

First-half goals to Simon Zappia and Steve Cudrig have seen Werribee City record a deserved 2-0 PlayStation 4 NPL Victoria win at North Geelong on Saturday.

In what was billed as a relegation six-pointer at Elcho Park, Werribee's bright start saw it record its second win in a row, moving them even further clear of the bottom-placed Warriors.

Bentleigh Greens has come from behind to defeat Oakleigh Cannons 2-1 at Jack Edwards Reserve on Friday night.

The victory marked the Greens’ first success over their local rivals in 11 years as goals from Matt Thurtell and Jack Webster cancelled out Goran Zoric’s opener.

An opener from Brent Fisher just before the half hour mark got the Sharks on their way before Knights equalised from the spot midway thought the second half through Andrew Barisic to ensure both sides took home a share of the spoils.
