The drought finally broke for the Bees in front of their home fans thanks to first half goals to Ryan Filipovic and Steven Cudrig.

The hosts were forced to do it the hard way, forced to play a large portion of the second half with 10-men with Flipovic receiving a second yellow in the 68th minute.

Ahmed magic not enough as North Geelong pinches late draw

A second half penalty to North Geelong Warriors’ Matthew Townley has rescued the visitors a much needed point as it drew 1-1 Dandenong Thunder at George Andrews Reserve.

A solo effort from wonderkid Yusuf Ahmed shot the Thunder into a second half lead, before Abdirahman Ahmed brought down Nikola Jurkovic in the box to give the Warriors a lifeline.

Hegarty spares Hume as Heidelberg pays late penalty

Hume City has claimed a late point against table-topping Heidelberg United on a windy Saturday night at ABD Stadium.

An early own goal gave Heidelberg the lead, but a late Nick Hegarty penalty stole the three points off of Heidelberg.

Heidelberg United opened the scoring within five minutes of the kick off. The Bergers’ looked threatening early, but didn’t expect to find the net in the fashion they did.

Full back Jamie Cumming found space out wide to swing a ball into the danger area. Hume defender Matt Hennessy sought to clear but his flailing leg ushered the ball into the back of the net.

Port Melbourne condemns Gully to sixth consecutive loss with comeback win

Port Melbourne has condemned Green Gully to its sixth consecutive loss with a 2-1 win at Green Gully Reserve.

Gully’s Roddy Vargas opened the scoring before Port’s Kamal Ibrahim equalised. Substitute Julius Davies secured the win with a goal in the 63rd minute.

Second half header gives Knights win over Paco

A 72nd minute header from Chris Talajic has given Melbourne Knights a narrow 1-0 win over Pascoe Vale at Knights Stadium on Friday night.

The match looked to be heading for a stalemate before Talajic popped up to head the home side in front from a corner.

South Melbourne remains undefeated after a 1-0 win over Avondale FC at Lakeside Stadium on Friday night.

The home team was dominant in possession in the first half, and it paid off as it scored the only goal of the match through striker Milos Lujic early on.

Bentleigh goes top temporarily after big win over Northcote

Bentleigh Greens have moved to the top of the PlayStation 4 NPL Victoria table after a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Northcote City FC at Kingston Heath Soccer Complex on Friday night.

Greens skipper Wayne Wallace sent the hosts into the break with a 1-0 lead before three second half goals from Chris Lucas, Daniel Visevic and Matt Thurtell secured the result.
