PS4 NPL Tasmania Team of the Year

The PlayStation 4 NPL Tasmania 2016 Team of the Year has been officially announced and unsurprisingly premiers Devonport dominate the selections in the side.

Seven of the starting eleven, and eight players in total come from the premiers who posted an impressive 19-1-1 record to finish eight points clear on top to claim the title.

Devonport goalkeeper Niko Giantsopoulos, left back Dom Smith, central defenders Joe Zupo and Nathan Gratton, and defensive midfielder Daniel Syson all earned their selections as the staples of a defence that allowed just 10 goals all season.

In central midfield another Devonport player in Joel Stone is joined by Englishmen Shane Cartwright of the Kingborough Lions, who is the only player from a bottom four side who made the team.

A front three of the league’s top goal scorers, Luke Huigsloot, Alex Leszczynski and Brayden Mann then rounds out the starting eleven. Hobart JEEP Zebras have three players on the bench in James Sherman, Dwayne Walsh and Mattias Toghill which combined with Huigsloot sees them earn four nominations to the team.

South Hobart were next best with three representatives with starters Quaile and Leszczynski joined by Jack Turner on the bench. Canadian Gavin Hoy was the lone Olympia representative which made it three Canadians in the side along with Zupo and Giantsopoulos.
