PS4 NPL Tasmania Round 9 Review

South Hobart overcame a plucky Kingborough Lions outfit 5-0, scoring four times in the second half after the Lions had started brightly in the opening half.

South win by five in scrappy slog

It took a brace from Jack Turner and singles to Nick Morton, Jake Brennan and Connor Schmidt to eventually overcome the Lions and remain a point off the summit.

The opening 20 minutes was fascinating viewing as South scrapped and struggled to gain any momentum and the Lions tried to play a passing game but lacked any real penetration in the final third of the pitch. In general terms, perhaps the Lions just shaded the game and it was they who registered the first shot of the game in the 19th minute.

Warriors start and finish strong to claim derby

A strong start and strong finish saw the Olympia FC Warriors maintain top spot on the NPL TAS table with a 4-0 win over Clarence. They didn’t have it all their own way as Clarence matched it with them throughout the game, but two early goals and two more late on was enough for them to comfortably secure the three points and head into the Lakoseljac Cup Semi Finals with momentum.

Deadly Devonport make light work of Rangers

The previous meeting in Launceston was a tight affair which resulted in a 3-2 win to the travelling side Devonport, but as we all know football can be a weird and wonderful game. If the previous meeting were anything to go off it would be a tight contest with either side being able to knock the other side off, but the Chris Gallo led Devonport strikers had other ideas and came out absolutely firing.
