PS4 NPL Tasmania Round 5 Review

The Eastern Shore Derby turned into the Jakub Sklenar show as Olympia's Czech striker smashed in four goals to lead his side to a 5-1 win over Clarence.

Super Sklenar dominates derby

The Reds defence simply had no answer to the clinical front man who jumped to the lead of the Golden boot race in an inspired individual display.

It didn't take long for him to get off and running as Jack Callan launched a long diagonal over the top of the Clarence defence that Sklenar took down before hammering it home into the far corner of the net to make it 1-0 with the first shot of the game.

On 20 minutes it was 2-0 as Hugh Undy's cross from the left was deflected into the path of Sklenar who escaped the close attention of Heggie to bundle it home from 2 yards out.

Huigsloot heroics fire Zebras to victory

Hobart Zebras overcame some early poor finishing to run all over the top of Launceston City at KGV on Saturday afternoon, beating the Northerners 4-0. Luke Huigsloot was the hero for the Zebras, putting three in the back of the net and completely dominating the game, winning absolutely everything that came his way in the air.

Both teams started the game tentatively. Slowly but surely the top of the table Hobart Zebras worked their way on top and began to create more chances. For once though, they were wasteful in front of goal with a couple of misses from their key striking men that normally would have nestled in the net.

South Hobart put Lions to the sword

Kingborough Lions season went from bad to worse as they were belted 10-0 by South Hobart at Darcy Street on Sunday afternoon. The game kicked off under grey skies and that must be reflecting the mood in the Lions camp after they were brought undone by a series of sloppy mistakes at the back that South were only too happy to take full advantage of as their young attackers feasted on the Lions carcass.

On 11 minutes Alex Walter was afforded miles too much space in the box and Jacob Brennan knocked it to him 8 yards out where he made no mistake.

Despite South firing off several warning shots with near misses from range, the Lions were competing and had a couple of good moments on the counter that just lacked a final ball in the opening 20 minutes.
