PS4 NPL Tasmania Round 10 Preview

A goal from the centre circle from Danny Cowen fired the Kingborough Lions to a remarkable 1-0 upset of the Hobart Zebras in the latest round of PlayStation 4 NPL Tasmania.

Cowen stunner sinks Zebras

In the only shot on target the Lions mustered all evening, Cowen caught Zebras keeper Marcelo Mercuri off his line and secured a remarkable three points for his side.

The Lions captain was a fitting match winner. In what has been a trying season for the club, Cowen has led from the front and worked his socks off every time he has played and he fully deserves his moment as the hero of the hour for the Lions.

Mann strikes late to send Strikers top

Devonport left it late before Brayden Mann headed home a corner in the 87th minute to send the defending Champions to the top of the table with a 1-0 win over Launceston City.

Launceston City made Devonport work for their 3 points today with the visitors looking to erase the demons of last week’s 6 nil drubbing at the hands of Glenorchy Knights. the first half was quite an even affair with both teams looking to attack one another on the heavy Valley Road pitch.

City going for a 5-4-1 tactic looked to stifle the space of Mann, Fischer and Holden not allowing them space to operate in and it proved effective for large parts of the game with a lot of opportunities blocked, forced wide or snuffed out by the excellent Lachlan Clarke in goals.

Superb South smash Warriors

South Hobart made a statement as they smashed the previous league leaders Olympia  6-2 on Saturday afternoon at Darcy Street. In a completely one sided contest, South Hobart ran rampant from beginning to end to completely tear apart an insipid Warriors outfit.

As early as sixth minute you got the feeling Olympia were off their game and South were on when Jakob Cole was forced into a fine double save as South rattled off their first warning shots off the boot of Alex Walter.

In the 13th minute it was 1-0. A fine in-swinging corner from Liam Quaile wasn’t cleared and Hamlett was all alone on the 6 yard box to poke home.

Ten minutes later it was 2-0 as Jack Turner leapt high, once again unopposed, to nod home a great cross from Quaile from the left wing.

Rangers rally to stun Clarence

Northern Rangers have claimed their second victory of the season in dramatic style, rallying from 2-1 down to claim a 3-2 victory over Clarence thanks to a late long range bomb from their star captain Nick Lanau-Atkinson.

The Rangers talisman stepped up in 86th minute to score a superb long range free kick after Rangers keeper Sam Whatman had minutes earlier made a massive penalty save to keep the scores locked at 2-2. Clarence also had a goal ruled out due to an offside call in what was a frenetic final 10 minutes of an action packed game.
