PS4 NPL South Australia Review: Round 5

Port Pirates moved into 8th position with a stirring come from behind victory over West Torrens Birkalla in Round 5 of Playstation 4 National Premier Leagues South Australia.

The long weekend saw a double round of fixtures play out in the PlayStation 4 NPL as Adelaide Blue Eagles maintained their position on top of the ladder.

Adelaide Comets 1

Croydon Kings 3

Croydon Kings downed Adelaide Comets 3-1 to stay within touching distance of top spot in round five of the South Australian Playstation4 National Premier League.

Shaun McGreevy put the visitors ahead early on with a header from an inch perfect corner. Michael Doyle gave Croydon a two goal cushion midway through the first half after he fired a shot low into the opposite corner from a tight angle.

WT Birkalla 1

Pirates 2

Pirates enjoyed some early chances but it was Birkalla’s Paul Radice who scored first just after the half hour mark. He showed all his football nous to pounce on a through ball to get in between the keeper and defender before coolly slotting the ball into the back of the net.

But not even ten minutes later, Pirates were back on level terms after their Japanese offseason recruit, Hikaru Tanaka, blasted a venomous shot from outside the box into the top right hand corner of the net. Both sides enjoyed good spells of possession before Port substitute Josh Giles latched onto a looping header to head it into the net.
