Campbelltown City left it late to seal the three points as they downed White City 1-0 in the penultimate round while Raiders will be fighting for league survival on the final day after going down 2-0 to Adelaide Blue Eagles.
The Red Devils were clearly dominant in possession but failed to really work White City keeper Josh Negrean, a draw looking more likely as the minutes ticked down. The game was crying out for some heroics, which is exactly what Campbelltown got in the form of playmaker Kento Hara.
Hara picked up the ball on the edge of the 18-yard box, took a couple of touches to his right before unleashing the sweetest of shots into the bottom corner at the far post.
MetroStars fumbled a two-goal lead, but recovered to defeat Port Adelaide Pirates 4-2 in Round 25 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League South Australia at TK Shutter Reserve on Saturday.
Liam Wooding netted twice in the opening 20 minutes, but Josh Giles responded with a goal in each half. After Adam Van Dommele restored MetroStars lead, Rocky Callisto sealed the victory.
Raiders will be fighting for league survival in next week’s final match day after going down 2-0 against Adelaide Blue Eagles in Round 25 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League South Australia at Marden Sports Complex last Saturday.
Matthew Charalambous and Yvan Boyokino scored for the home side, which saw the Blue Eagles temporarily go top of the league table. Raiders on the other hand find themselves near the bottom thanks to their inability to convert opportunities.
Para Hills Knights and Modbury Jets shared the points in a tense match at The Paddocks in Round 25 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League South Australia.
With the Knights already doomed to relegation and the Jets looking to avoid it, this match didn’t lack any passion. Chances were few and far between as the ball became stuck in the midfield.
