PS4 NPL SA Round 9 Review

Adelaide Comets struggled to convert numerous opportunities in front of goal, the windy conditions playing havoc as they were forced to settle for a draw with Adelaide Blue Eagles.

Adelaide Comets v Adelaide Blue Eagles

With a play of words from the classic lyrics from the Bob Dylan hit song “Blowin’ In The Wind” - how many times can a team burn their chances and hope to win….. the answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind. And that was the tale of the day for Adelaide Comets at S.A Athletic Stadium in their battle against Adelaide Blue Eagles in Round 9 of the PlayStation 4 NPL South Australia.

Comets controlled proceedings for the majority of the game, with man of the match Jack Bladen, and his partner in crime Steven Grelli unstoppable in the middle of the park. Blue Eagles had no answers to the hard working midfield duo, who continually sent the ball forward into dangerous goal scoring positions for their strikers.

It only took Comets 3 minutes to make their intentions known when Andreas Wiens collected a deflection from a long range Bladen shot which he blasted wide of the goal.

Blue Eagles were happy to sit back and adsorb the early pressure with the hope of catching Comets on the break, but the defensive pillars of Alan Welsh and Peter Eleftherakis were proving to be a big obstacle for the Blue Eagles forwards.

Comets’ wing back Oliver Zafiridis had a big first half linking with the midfield through the left channel to create numerous forward opportunities, but Wiens and Apostolos Stamatelopoulos failed to convert their chances.
