PS4 NPL SA Round 6 Review

Adelaide United have their first three points of the season with a 3-1 win over West Adelaide at the Berri Memorial Oval in the Riverland.

Adelaide United v West Adelaide

Ryan Strain gave Adelaide United the ascendancy over West Adelaide early, converting a penalty. Two incredible goals then secured the win for United, through Blake Carpenter and Pacifique Niyongabire.

A late West Adelaide goal by Tommy Briscoe arrived too late, as their opponents had the stronghold for most of the 90 minutes, causing an upset for the Blue and Whites.

It took just 15 minutes for Strain to beat West Adelaide gloveman, Lewis Moss from the spot, sending the keeper the wrong way and giving the Reds an early lead.

It was 1-0 at the break, but three minutes into the second stanza, winger, Carpenter latched onto the end of a corner with a glancing header to double the advantage.

Campbelltown City v MetroStars

Reigning Champions Campbelltown City got their season back on track with a workman like performance to snare the points, over a determined MetroStars in their PlayStation 4 National Premier League South Australia encounter at Steve Woodcock Sports Centre.

It was an erratic start to the game by both sides, with neither capable of taking the initiative in the early stages of the contest. Solid defending by both teams made it hard for any fluent forward transition.

It was the Red Devils who eventually got into their stride, with the accomplished Kieta Minomura and Dion Kirk taking a stranglehold of the midfield. The MetroStars defence was being put under enormous pressure as the usual suspects Tommy Strain, Lui Ditroia and Anthony Ture began to create havoc in Campbelltown’s forward half.

Campbelltown’s forward thrusts through the wing channels was putting MetroStars defenders Michael D’aloisio and Tim Henderson under enormous pressure.
