PS4 NPL SA Round 5 Review

Adelaide Comets returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Croydon Kings in Round 5 of PlayStation 4 NPL South Australia at Polonia Reserve.

Croydon Kings v Adelaide Comets

Striker Andreas Wiens scored the solitary goal in the 69th minute.

The visitors from Mile End controlled the game – in hot, testing conditions – from the outset, passing the ball between the lines, whereas Croydon focused on defensive duties with only the forwards applying pressure on the Comets’ defence.

West Torrens Birkalla v Adelaide Olympic

In a game where the two defences stood tall, Adelaide Olympic, who travelled to Jack Smith Park looking for maximum points, had to settle for a draw against a strong-willed West Torrens Birkalla in their Round Five Play Station 4 National Premier League match.

It was an entertaining game played in warm conditions, with the ball travelling from end to end at a frantic pace.

Wasted chances by both teams would prove costly by the end of the 90 minutes.

Para Hills Knights v Adelaide United Youth

he Para Hills men have been knighted with their first win of the season, following a 2-1 triumph over Adelaide United in Round 5 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues at The Paddocks on Saturday.

New signing, Yohei Matsumoto provided a magical touch, netting two lethal goals for the hosts to ultimately secure the three points, in what was a crucial clash between the two teams at the foot of the table, who battled until the end.

Despite Adelaide United who grabbed the ascendency early with an explosive lead through striker, Apostolos Stamatelopoulos, they were not able to hold the Knights down.

The Knights went out to protect their home ground, although it was an even affair, given their positions on the National Premier League ladder.

With both sides down to 10 men at stages of the match, it was final execution on goal that proved the difference between who shielded their glory by the finale.
