PS4 NPL SA Round 19 Review

MetroStars continue their outstanding form with a 3-2 victory over Adelaide United in Round 19 of PlayStation 4 NPL South Australia at TK Shutter Reserve.

MetroStars vs. Adelaide United

MetroStars have further consolidated their second spot on the competition’s ladder, and their well-deserved place in the finals.

A goal to Alex Jakob and a Christian Esposito brace sealed within two minutes ultimately secured the win for the home side.

And despite a double from Adelaide United Captain, Josh Mori, the Reds could not find a heroic goal to upset the MetroStars outfit for a second time this season.

The first 15 minutes of the contest was tight, as both sides were trying to find their rhythm.

An early chance for Adelaide arose, as Apostolos Stamatelopoulos swiftly slipped away from his marker to run into space and deliver a ball through to Lachlan Brook on the edge of the box.

Brook tried to swerve in and out of Metro’s bustling defence, but was thwarted before he could pull the trigger.

West Adelaide vs. Adelaide Blue Eagles

West Adelaide continued with their winning form with a hard fought 2-1 win over a luckless Adelaide Blue Eagles, at Adelaide Shores Football Centre.

Blue Eagles showed, with three rounds remaining, and nine points up for the taking, that there is still a faint pulse of life left in the old warrior, as the pressure begins to mount in their battle to starve off relegation.

The match lay in the balance for a large portion of the game, with both teams having the opportunity to stake their claim for the win. But the fortuitous West Adelaide was able to hold their nerve in crucial contests during the game to snatch victory and keep their good form rolling on towards a finals berth.

In tricky, swirling, windy conditions, the opening to the contest was a scrap, as the players found the going tough to read the flight of the ball as it held up in the wind.
