PS4 NPL SA Round 1 Review

Adelaide United caused a major upset in the opening round of the PlayStation 4 NPL South Australia 2016 Season, recording a maiden 2-0 win against last season’s Grand Finalist Adelaide Blue Eagles.

In warm conditions, Blue Eagles got off to a quick start creating the first goal scoring opportunity when Alemayo Kebede side heeled a pass to Jean-Glaude Boyokino whose shot on goal was blocked by a desperate Adelaide United defender in the opening minute of the game.

Blue Eagles continued to create chances early, but were thwarted by some good goal keeping by John Hall and resolute defending by the Adelaide United defence.

MetroStars v Adelaide Comets

In a tale of two halves, the Comets soared away with a late 3-2 win. 

Played at TK Shutter Reserve on Saturday, the game was hard fought by both sides, but the Adelaide Comets dug deep and found grit, scoring their three goals late in the second half.  

After returning to the fray of the second half, the young Comets squad pressured Metro relentlessly, demonstrating grunt, character, and ferocity in front of goal.

South Adelaide v Raiders

A double from debutant Guy Miller helped pull South Adelaide to a 4-1 win over Raiders in Round 1 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League (NPL) South Australia.

Jonathon Rideout and Josh Hawker also added goals to the scoresheet for the Panthers, while Alex Cosmidis hit the back of the net for Raiders.

South Adelaide could not have asked for a better start to their season, sending a message to the rest of the league that they are not to be underestimated in 2016.

Adelaide City v Croydon Kings

A brace from Anthony Costa helped Adelaide City overcome Croydon Kings 4-2 in Round 1 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League South Australia at Adelaide City Park.

The City striker scored in either half with Lewis Farquhar and Nikola Mileusnic getting on the scoresheet in the first.

Rocky Visconte and James Skeffington scored for the visitors.

West Adelaide v Adelaide Olympic

West Adelaide launched the new season with a bang, recording a commanding 4-1 victory over Adelaide Olympic in Round 1 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League South Australia on Friday at Adelaide Shores Football Centre.

Goals in each half from Alex Rideout and Ricardo Da Silva gave the reigning champions a perfect start. Tyler Waterhouse’s second half strike briefly offered Olympic hope, but they finished with 10 men following Sean Brennan’s dismissal.
