PS4 NPL Queensland 2015 Preview

PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland will deliver its most tightly contested season yet in 2015 with off-season player movements hoping to shift the balance of power in the Sunshine State.

Twelve clubs ranging from Gold Coast in the south to Cairns in the tropical north will compete for the title in 2015 following the departure of last season’s Malaysian guest side Harimau Muda.

Perennial powerhouses Olympic FC, Brisbane Strikers and Brisbane City have all recruited strongly in the off-season to cover key player departures and are set to loom large in the race for silverware in 2015.

Brisbane Roar Youth will also prove competitive as they continue to blood their next generation of Hyundai A-League hopefuls in Queensland’s elite club competition.

Seeking to displace the capital city quartet are a host of clubs from across Queensland. On the outskirts of Brisbane, bayside outfits Moreton Bay United and Redlands United will be eager to secure their first taste of finals football after falling just short over the past two seasons.

Palm Beach SC and Sunshine Coast FC will again fly the flag for their respective coastal communities. The Gold Coast-based Sharks are seeking to defend last year’s Premiership-Championship double despite player departures following their high-profile performances in the Westfield FFA Cup; while the more northern Fire hope to recapture their Queensland State League glory days after welcoming back several former stars in the off-season.

Ipswich-based Western Pride and Toowoomba-based SWQ Thunder will duke it out see who is the best in the west - both sides looking to improve under new coaches after finishing in the bottom two last season.

The tropics will also have their say in the title race as Cairns-based FNQ Heat look to go one better after finishing second in 2014; while Townsville’s Northern Fury, who have remained highly secretive throughout pre-season, seek to improve on last season’s disappointing lower-table finish.

PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland kicks off February 28 at Perry Park - Brisbane’s spiritual home of football - with the traditional opening round fixture between Strikers and Redlands.
