PS4 NPL NSW Round 13 Review

It was a very wet Round 13 in the PlayStation®4 NPL NSW competition but there was still plenty of football around the grounds.

Blacktown City and Bonnyrigg secured wins while Manly United and Olympic took home a point after a 1-1 draw on Friday.

Matches at Rockdale, APIA Leichhardt and Wollongong were rescheduled due to torrential rain. These matches will be played at a later date. Keep an eye on the Football NSW website for further details.

Manly United FC 1 – Sydney Olympic 1 at Cromer Park.

A MASTERCLASS from goalkeeper Paul Henderson saw Sydney Olympic FC escape Cromer Park with a 1-1 draw against Manly United on Friday night.

The 40-year-old was brilliant between the sticks during the PlayStation®4 NPL NSW Men’s clash, denying the home side on countless occasions

Dejan Pandurevic gave the home side the lead in the 36th minute when his header at the near post from a Luke Giverin cross made it 1-0 for Manly.

Olympic bounced back mid way through the second half when substitute Joshua Gaspari was rewarded for his energy, eventually firing past Mitchell after a determined run into the area after 69 minutes.

Henderson ensured Olympic took a point away from its travels when he denied Brendan Cholakian on three occasions in the final moments of the match.

Blacktown Spartans 0 – Bonnyrigg White Eagles 2 at Blacktown Football Park

Star signing Jason Trifiro was unable to give Blacktown Spartans its first win home win of the PlayStation®4 NPL NSW Men’s season with Ben De Haan’s side suffering a 2-0 loss to Bonnyrigg on Saturday night.

Despite the best efforts of the former Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne City midfielder, Blacktown Spartans’ extended its horror run of form to nine weeks without a win.

Goals to former Spartan midfielders Raymond Miller and Greg Kondek ensured that the tough times continued at Blacktown Football Park.

Blacktown City 3 – Sutherland Sharks 1 at Lilys football Centre

A quick-fire salvo from Travis Major and Joey Gibbs was enough for Blacktown City to outlast a spirited Sutherland Sharks 3-1 in PlayStation®4 NPL NSW Men’s competition action at Lilys Football Centre.

Torrential rain wasn’t able to hold back the pair of former A-League forwards who struck within four minutes of each other to establish a commanding 2-0 lead inside fifteen minutes.

Although Sutherland mustered a response through Chris Mcstay in the second half, Blacktown attacker Patrick Antelmi came off the bench to add a sensational third on the cusp of full-time.

It was a harsh defeat in torrid conditions for the visitors with Antelmi’s strike at the death adding considerable gloss to the scoreline for Blacktown, who struggled to push beyond second gear throughout.
