NPL SA Women's Round Six Preview

Football SA NTC vs Fulham United
Venue: VALO Football Centre
Date: Friday 21 May, 6:15 PM

Round 6 kicks off tonight with an exciting NTC outfit taking on a Fulham side struggling to get their season kick-started after a disappointing opening five rounds.

NTC were defeated 3-1 last weekend by one of the league’s frontrunners in West, marking the fourth time so far this season that their match has ended with four or more goals scored in total.

Fulham, meanwhile, have only found the back of the net twice so far this year and not at all in their last three matches, the most recent of which was a 2-0 loss to Uni.

The youthful talent of NTC will be hoping to grab their third win of the season tonight against Fulham, who are vulnerable but desperate to get a much-needed win on the board.

Adelaide University vs Metro United
Venue: VALO Football Centre
Date: Friday 21 May, 8:15 PM

Uni takes on Metro in the late kick-off tonight at VALO, with the two sides experiencing vastly different fortunes compared to last season.

After a 2-0 win over Fulham last weekend marked their second victory of the season, Uni now only need three more points and five more goals to exceed their totals from the entirety of 2020.

Metro, on the other hand, have only picked up four points from their opening five matches and lost their third successive encounter last weekend to Inter in a 4-0 thumping.

With their defence one of their greatest assets, Metro will have to shore up at the back against a Uni side well and truly in the mix for finals football on current form.

Adelaide City vs Salisbury Inter
Venue: Adelaide City Park
Date: Saturday 22 May, 2:30 PM

City host Inter tomorrow afternoon in the knowledge that they need a result against one of the league’s powerhouses to not lose pace with the top of the table.

Their decline at the start of this season has seen them win just once and draw twice (conceding late equalisers in both), meaning that they’ve already dropped more points this season than they did last.

Inter, on the other hand, have gone from strength to strength and are now shaping as the side to beat in 2021, with their most recent triumph coming in a commanding performance against reigning champions Metro that finished 4-0.

It’s easy to get carried away with early season form lines, but the reality is that City are far from dead and buried and will be hoping to cause a stir against an Inter side keen to maintain their imperious form.

Adelaide City line-up: 1. Kendall Jenner (GK), 4. Daniela Di Bartolo, 5. Alyce Macauley, 8. Alanah Ursino, 9. Caitlin White, 13. Sophie Leszczynski, 14. Chrissie Zikos, 15. Bianca Gray, 16. Isobel Dahlen-Flight, 17. Chelsie Dawber (C), 18. Alana Fitzsimmons, 19. Shae Blackwood, 21. Mikayla Vidmar, 23. Natalie Frantzis, 28. Anastasia Nuttall, 55. Paula Kelly (GK)

Coaches: Jamie Dunning, Rachid Maliki

Team Staff: Seymour Di Bartolo, Alexander Tan, Nicholas Whiteside

Salisbury Inter line-up: Jaya Pagatpat, 1. Matilda Comley, 2. Khal Adam Khan, 4. Gabrielle Bentley, 5. Isabella  Kouimtzis, 6. Nicole Calder, 7. Maria Jose Rojas Pino, 8. Emily Condon, 10. West Adelaide vs Adelaide Comets
Venue: TK Shutter Reserve
Date: Saturday 22 May, 5:15 PM

West have enjoyed a bright start to 2021 and will be hoping to see that continue against a plucky Comets outfit boasting renewed confidence tomorrow.

With four wins to their name in their opening five, the most recent being a 3-1 victory over an impressive NTC side, West are at the right end of the table at this early stage and have scored more goals (13) than anyone besides Inter.

Comets, like Uni, have the opportunity to better their return from last season with a win and have largely stepped up from a disappointing 2020.

West shape as one of the tougher assignments going around at the moment, but Comets will be bringing their A-game and aiming to cause an upset tomorrow night.

West Adelaide line-up: Christie Hillyer, Jasmine Styles, Nicole Tilley (C), 2. Emily Hodgson, 3. Alison Atkins, 6. Elena Psaroulis, 7. Lara Kirkby, 8. Georgia Macri, 10. Georgie Nicola, 11.
