NPL SA Round Six RAA Wrap

Late drama in the NPLSA’s evening kick-off saw Adelaide Olympic hold Raiders to an entertaining 4-4 draw.

The two sides have struggled since the resumption of the season, failing to consistently string wins together, and both sat in the congested mid-table.

Olympic forwards Christos Pounendis and Dimitri Toumazos scored either side of Sallu Kamara’s finish for Raiders to grab a 2-1 lead for the home side after just 13 minutes.

Raiders striker Alun Webb scored the game’s fourth goal on 22 minutes, starting his side’s move in defence before getting on the end of a delightful pass by Kamara and slotting home.

The visitors drew first blood after the break as Webb doubled up with a neat finish on the hour mark, with Kamara providing another assist.

An equaliser was once again quickly cancelled out, as Raiders responded to skipper Pounendis’ second in the 72nd minute with a scrappy set piece goal finished by Thomas Brown in the 77th.

A rapid counterattacking move by Olympic culminated in a delightful backheel flick by centre-back Matt Halliday that found the feet of Kristin Konstandopoulos, who lobbed the keeper from close range to equalise in the 93rd minute.

MetroStars came from 2-1 down in injury time to snatch a 3-2 victory and save their blushes against Para Hills Knights, while leaders Adelaide Comets continued their hot streak by smashing four past Adelaide Blue Eagles.

Croydon Kings overcame Modbury Jets 3-1 away from home and Adelaide City and Campbelltown City edged out their opponents with a 2-1 with over Adelaide United and 1-0 triumph over Cumberland United respectively.
