Another eventful round of action was served up over the weekend in Queensland across the National Premier Leagues and National Premier Leagues Women's competitions.
NPL Queensland
Gold Coast teams had a good weekend in the NPL Men’s competition, while newly-promoted teams struggled.
The Feature Match at Croatian Sports Centre ended 3-0 in favour of the host side as Gold Coast Knights toppled Peninsula Power while Olympic returned to winnings ways with a 4-0 away win to Moreton Bay United.
Gold Coast United’s Shane Smeltz made it two braces in as many weeks as his side chalked up three points against the travelling Magpies Crusaders United. Elsewhere, a dominant display by Lions FC saw them cruise to a 4-0 victory over Capalaba FC.

Eastern Suburbs FC earned their first win of the season – simultaneously handing Brisbane City their first defeat – as they ran out 4-2 winners away from home. In the battle at the bottom it was Redlands United who emerged victorious in a convincing 6-2 triumph against Sunshine Coast Wanderers.
The only draw of the weekend occurred at Logan Metro Sports Complex on Sunday, as Brisbane Roar Youth drew 1-1 draw with Brisbane Strikers.
NPLW Queensland
Lions FC came from a goal behind to hand Capalaba FC their first loss of the season in the weekend’s NPL Women’s Feature Match, running out eventual 2-1 winners.
Gold Coast United continued a successful weekend for the region on Sunday when they claimed a 4-1 win against Souths United.
Logan Lightning claimed the three points when they made it three wins from three in a 3-1 win against Mitchelton FC.
The Gap FC also helped themselves to a 3-1 win in their tie against Football Queensland QAS.
Zoe Lambi scored four of her team’s 11 goals in the final game of the round, as Eastern Suburbs FC earned a comfortable 11-0 win away at Moreton Bay United.
