With Lions suffering defeat at the hands of third placed Peninsula Power last weekend, Easts were able to cut their lead at the top to just four points giving themselves a sniff in the title race with just six rounds remaining.

Lions however, who were haned their only other defeat of the campaign on their last trip to Heath Park can go seven points clear at the top with a win on Sunday.

Souths United and QAS look to move further away from the relegation zone when they go head-to-head at Wakerley Park in the opening match of the round on Friday night.

The pair currently occupy seventh and eighth on the league table and sit eight (QAS) & four (Souths) points above the drop zone.

From their two meetings so far this season there has been one draw and a 1-0 win for QAS in the most recent clash between the two.

In the first of four matches on Sunday afternoon Sunshine Coast Wanderers host Gold Coast United at Ballinger Park.

United have rediscovered their early season form in recent weeks and now sit three points ahead of Mitchelton in fourth position while the Wanderers find themselves in sixth.

Elsewhere on Sunday ninth placed Capalaba go in search of a vital win against third placed Peninsula Power at Max Haynes Field as they aim to avoid the drop.

In the final match of the weekend two sides in need of a win will battle it out at Teralba Park on Sunday evening when Mitchelton host Olympic.

The fifth placed Mustangs trail United by three points in the race for finals football while Olympic languish at the foot of the table seven points adrift of safety.
