NPL QLD Women's Grand Final Preview

Eastern Suburbs and Gold Coast United will go head-to-head in the 2023 NPL Queensland Women’s Grand Final at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides have the chance to claim their first NPL Queensland Championship with a victory in Sunday’s showpiece.

Sunday’s match will bring an end to Lions monopoly on the title with the Premiers missing out on the Grand Final for the first time since 2018 after suffering a 1-0 Semi Final defeat to Gold Coast United last weekend.

Despite finishing fourth United, exacted revenge on Lions after losing 6-0 to Rob Askew’s side in last year’s Grand Final.

Sarah Evans side will look to cap a strong second half of the season with a Grand final win on Sunday.

Looming as key for United chances will be forward Bronte Rose, who netted 16 goals this season along with midfielder Momo Hayashi who’s creativity and eye for the spectacular could prove crucial.

Easts come into Sunday’s finals after finishing second in the regular season and booking their spot in the Grand Final thanks to a 121st minute winner from Sofie Persson in a 1-0 Semi Final triumph over Peninsula Power.

Persson who found the back of the net 16 times this season shapes as Easts key figure up front along with livewire Emma Starr.

The ledgers been evenly split between the two sides this season with the three meetings between the pair resulting in a win apiece and a draw.

Sunday’s Grand Final kicks off at 7pm at Suncorp Stadium and will be live streamed on FQTV and the Football Queensland YouTube channel.
