NPL preview: Sydney United 58 marathon ends with Grand Final blockbuster

Battered, bruised but spirit still intact, Sydney United 58 are gearing up for a titanic battle against old rivals APIA Leichhardt Tigers in this Saturday’s 2019 NPL NSW Grand Final.

The winner-takes-all clash at Bankwest Stadium will be the fifth match in 14 days for United 58, who secured their ticket with a 2-1 win over Premiers Wollongong Wolves last Saturday and were knocked out of the FFA Cup 2019 by Western Sydney Wanderers in a 7-1 midweek loss.

APIA Leichhardt are hoping for a case of third time lucky. The Tigers are playing their third consecutive Grand Final, having lost the 2017 and 2018 editions to Manly United and Sydney Olympic respectively.
