NNSWF Premier Competitions Season 2019 Draws Announced

Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) today officially released the 2019 season draws for its three Premier Competitions – National Premier Leagues Northern NSW (NPL NNSW), Herald Women’s Premier League (WPL) and NEWFM Northern League One – with all three leagues kicking off on the second weekend of March (7 March – 10 March 2019).

This year, clubs were granted an increased amount of control and ownership of when their teams played in the draw which will feature many new and exciting prospects for the upcoming season.

NNSWF’s Senior Officer Premier Competitions Liam Bentley said it was great to see all clubs embrace the draw.

“We worked closely with clubs in formulating our competition draws, which allowed plenty opportunity for feedback, resulting in a large majority of requests being able to be accommodated,” said Bentley.

The 2019 season will see more games of the NPL NNSW played at night – particularly on Friday’s and Saturday’s, in order to differentiate time slots across all three leagues and provide fans and online viewers the opportunity to watch more matches both at the ground and via live stream online.

“We’re pleased to partner again with Bar TV Sports this year to stream all NPL NNSW matches as well as selected Match of the Rounds and special matches across all three leagues throughout the season,” Bentley concluded.

A new innovation devised in the NPL NNSW draw will see all opening round matches played at different times in five unique time slots; kicking-off on Thursday 7 March with Charlestown City Blues FC v Newcastle Jets Academy, and ending with a 2018 Grand Final rematch between Broadmeadow Magic FC and Edgeworth Eagles FC at Magic Park on Sunday 10 March.

The Herald WPL is set for a thrilling season after painfully falling to six teams in 2018. The 2019 season will extend to an 8 team competition for the first time since 2015 with the return of both Thornton Redbacks FC and Football Mid North Coast, entering in all four grades.

Additional changes have also been made in the NEWFM Northern League One competition as both senior and youth fixtures have been fully aligned meaning clubs will face the same teams in both senior and youth grades on the same weekend in an aim to further promote and build club atmosphere.
