Melbourne City secures NPLW NSW star

Melbourne City FC have announced the signing of 19-year-old defender Tori Tumeth from NPLW NSW Champions Sydney University.

Tumeth has represented both the Junior Matildas and the Young Matildas, captaining the former. 

She joins the defending Westfield W-League Champions from University, where she played a big role in helping the team complete the treble in 2019. 

A midfielder in her junior days, Tumeth is a hard working defender with lots of potential and will now get her chance to continue her development in the Westfield W-League.

Tumeth's first match for City will come in the  season opening Grand Final re-match on December 30.

Melbourne City FC Director of Football Michael Petrillo told he melbournecityfc.com.au he is looking forward to have secured Tumeth's services for the campaign.

“Tori comes to us directly from the NSWNPL as a former Young Matilda who is looking to make her mark in the W-League and we are pleased to see her make Melbourne City her club of choice. 

“She is a very talented young player with enormous potential and we are excited to see how she develops over the course of the season. 

“Tori is a great athlete and is also great on the ball so will also suit our City style of play well. 

Tori Tumeth said she is excited for the opportunity to play in the Westfield W-League with City.

“Playing football professionally has always been a goal of mine and to now achieve that goal, at one of the best clubs in Australia is something I am proud and excited about. 

“The facilities at City I’ve heard are amazing and the professional environment that Rado has created is something I’m really keen to be a part of. 

“I want to work hard, improve my game, and work with the staff and players to achieve success.”
