McDonald Jones Stadium to host PS4 NPL NNSW decider

In a major coup for football in the region, the PlayStation®4 NPL Northern NSW 2017 Grand Final will be played at McDonald Jones Stadium on Saturday 2 September.

The move represents a significant vote of confidence in the reputation of the Region’s top flight men’s competition and was met with resounding support from PlayStation 4 NPL Clubs when announced by NNSWF CEO David Eland at a Standing Committee meeting tonight at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility.

“It is an initiative that NNSWF has considered for some time. The decision and investment to conduct the 2017 PS4 NPL Grand Final at the Region’s premier football facility is reflective of the increased professionalism of the participating clubs and the improving technical standard of our local NPL,” David Eland said.

The move for NNSWF’s top men’s Premier League competition decider to the Region’s premier stadium facility was also applauded by Venues NSW.

“Football has a strong history and tradition in the Hunter and at McDonald Jones Stadium. We are delighted to afford local football clubs and players the opportunity to play at an iconic venue in the Australian Football landscape,” Venues NSW Chairman, Mr John Quayle said of the announcement.

The PlayStation 4 NPL NNSW Grand Final will include three grades on the day with 18’s, 20’s and First Grade fixtures to be held, with the First Grade fixture to kick off under lights on Saturday evening.

“The move represents a new era for our Premier Competitions, with the change to Saturday night, under lights at the stadium anticipated to have wider appeal to local football and sporting fans alike and provide a fitting culmination to the 2017 PlayStation 4 NPL season,”  Eland said.

“I would like to acknowledge Broadmeadow Magic FC for principally hosting the Grand Final’s for so many years successfully,” Eland concluded.
