Kamara ready for breakout campaign with Sydney United 58

Sallu Kamara will be looking to add more firepower to what is an already potent attacking force at Sydney United 58 as they prepare for the start of the 2021 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s season.

Sydney United 58 could prove to be the beneficiaries of a lethal weapon in the form of Sallu Kamara who links up with the former NSL giants after a stint with Adelaide Raiders in the NPL South Australia.

Kamara will give new coach Tomi Vidovic a welcome selection headache upfront with healthy competition between the young striker and returning club stalwart, Chris Payne.

The presence of Payne and countless other premium NPL players at Edensor Park has already paid dividends for Kamara with the small day-to-day routines of these talented individuals already catching his eye.

“Watching those guys is like, wow! It’s amazing, just the little things they do, it makes you realise these are the types of players you want to be on the pitch with,” Kamara told nplnsw.com.au

“These are the kind of players you want to play with and share the same locker room with so for me it’s like I’m blessed with this big opportunity and I’m looking forward to more.”

He’s slowly settled into life at United and is enjoying the style of play that Vidovic has been drumming into the team throughout preseason.

“His style of play fits into how I play. He likes to keep the ball and when we lose the ball, he wants his players to win it back straight away,” he added.

“This system will work if we all believe in it.”

There is a clear desire to succeed for United 58’s latest acquisition as he waves away any expectations surrounding his arrival and sets himself the same objective as any other top notch striker.

“I want to be the top goal scorer, I want to score as many possible [goals] for the club,” he revealed.

“Everytime I step on the pitch; I want to walk off and hear people talking about me.”

From a young age, Kamara has modelled his play from a certain lethal Liverpool striker who he believes is the complete package.

“I see myself playing the same style as Sadio Mane. He’s very physical, fast and strong. He goes forward and he’s not afraid to take on the opposition. He’s just so confident.”

The Sydney United faithful will undoubtedly be eager to see their new addition in action when they open their season against Sydney Olympic on Saturday 27th February (5:30pm) at Belmore Sports Ground.
