Former Hyundai A-League defender Michael Thwaite has re-signed with Gold Coast United for the 2020 Queensland NPL campaign.
Thwaite has re-signed with the club that he also played for in the Hyundai A-League between 2009 and 2012.
It will be the 36-year-old’s second season with United in the NPL, having played 26 matches and scoring four goals in the 2019 campaign.
Thwaite, who also had a spell at Chinese outfit Liaoning Whowin in 2016, was capped 13 times by the Caltex Socceroos.
The classy defender, who also played for Melbourne Victory, Perth Glory and Western Sydney Wanderers in the Hyundai A-League, is a key signature for coach Kristian Rees.
The club have already pulled off a major coup, signing prolific striker Sam Smith from Gold Coast Knights for 2020.
