Ex-Hyundai A-League and Caltex Socceroo veterans unite at Murray United

Former Caltex Socceroo and Hyundai A-League stalwarts Jade North and Archie Thompson were re-united on Saturday under the banner of Murray United.

Having signed for the NPL Victoria 2 club last week, North made his debut for United and inspired a 3-2 win over Melbourne Victory at La Trobe University Wodonga.

The win is United's fifth of the season from 13 games, and lifts them above Springvale White Eagles at the foot of the NPL2 East Victoria ladder.

North last featured in the Hyundai A-League on March 3, 2018, in Brisbane Roar's 1-0 win over Adelaide United.

With 41 caps for the national team and 214 Hyundai A-League appearances for Newcastle Jets, Wellington Phoenix and Brisbane Roar, North is one of Australia’s most renowned Indigenous footballers.

The 37-year-old was a Hyundai A-League Championship winner with Newcastle in 2007/08 and claimed the Premiership and Championship double with Brisbane Roar in 2013/14.
