Eastern Lions have confirmed the signing of Japanese defender Kentaro Oi ahead of the 2023 NPL 2 Victoria season.
The 38-year-old brings a wealth of experience to Gardiners Creek Reserve having made over 400 appearances across J1 & J2 in Japan with Jubilo Iwata, Albirex Niigata and Shonan Bellmare.
The central defender, who has represented Japan at U17 & U19 level made 15 J.League appearances for Jubilo Iwata, who suffered relegation last season.
Similarly to Jubilo, Eastern Lions were relegated in 2022 after finishing bottom of the NPL Victoria standings.
Oi is a signing of intent from the Chris Greechan coached Lions, who will seek an immediate return to Victoria’s top-flight.
Eastern Lions will kick off their 2023 NPL 2 Victoria season on the road at City Vista Pavilion against Western United Academy on Sunday February, 19.
