Eagles to provide Semi Final test for Perth SC

Perth SC coach Ramon Falzon is expecting a much tougher contest when his side hosts Northern NSW Champions Edgeworth Eagles in Saturday night’s PlayStation 4 NPL Finals Series Semi Final.

The Azzurri brushed aside Tasmanian champions Devonport Strikers with relative ease last weekend, cruising to a 6-1 victory at Litis Stadium.

However the Eagles will be an entirely different prospect, and travel to Perth after causing a major upset last Saturday by defeating the more fancied Victorian premiers Bentleigh Greens 3-1 in extra-time away from home.

Edgeworth is also coming off a stellar 2016, where they were minor and major premiers in the NPL Northern NSW and reached the FFA Cup Round of 16. The Eagles are now the first Northern NSW said to make the NPL national semi-finals.

“This will definitely be a much tougher game for us than last week,” Falzon said.

“Edgeworth is a very good football team. They like to keep possession, building up from the back, they move the ball quickly and have a lot of mobility.

“Their forwards, led by Daniel McBreen, are very dangerous, and as they proved last week even their substitutes can come off the bench and make an impact – so they have a lot of firepower.

“But we have done our homework, we have trained really well during the week and we will be ready for them.”
