PS4 NPL WA Round 3 Review

Reigning champions Perth SC maintained their perfect start to the PlayStation 4 NPL WA 2017 Season when they defeated one of their title challengers, Floreat Athena 3-1.

Gustavo Catarcione netted his fourth goal in three games in the first half, before further strikes from Andreas Theodosiades and Niccolo Sabatini either side of Athena’s goal from Kristopher Gate, sent Ramon Falzon’s men clear at the top of the ladder.

Falzon was more than happy with the result.

“Three wins in three games is a really good start,” he said. “The boys stuck to the plan from the start and I think we hit them on the counter really well.

“But on the other hand, we can’t get away from that goal we are conceding in every game. We need to get back to work because we haven’t had a clean sheet yet.”

In other matches, Cockburn City defeated Bayswater City 2-1 at Dalmatinac Park, Inglewood United beat Subiaco 3-1 at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium and Balcatta scored 1-0 over Armadale at Alfred Skeet Reserve.

Sorrento dominated Mandurah City 5-0 at Percy Doyle Reserve, lifting them to second on the PS4 NPLWA ladder.

The Joondalup United v Perth Glory and ECU Joondalup v Stirling matches have been postponed until further notice due to the heat on the weekend.
