PS4 NPL Tasmania Round 13 Preview

Traditional rivals Hobart Zebras and Olympia Warriors are set to meet under Friday night lights at KGV in a crunch game to kick off Round 13.

With the Warriors losing to Devonport last week, another stumble could see them falling too far behind the leading pair of Devonport and South Hobart in the title race.

The early pace setters, Hobart Zebras have already fallen 10 points behind and are now seemingly out of the title race, but they have the quality left in their side to play a major role in shaping the eventual champions. With a pronounced divide between the top 4 and the bottom 4 in the league this season, there simply aren’t the frequent danger games to shake up the standings at the top, making these top 4 match up’s all the more crucial.

The sides have met twice this year, drawing 1-1 in the league before Olympia claimed the Lakoseljac Cup Semi Final between the sides with a narrow 2-0 win that really could have gone either way. This game promises to be a battle of overcoming adversity with both sides set to have a number of regular starters unavailable due to injury and suspension.

The Zebras will be without Adam McKeown, Jordan Muller, reigning Mitsubishi medalist, Dwayne Walsh and the departed Chris Downes. Olympia meanwhile will be missing key midfield duo Nick Mearns and Shane Cartwright who both limped off injured against the Devonport Strikers on Saturday.
