PS4 NPL SA Round 16 Review

Para Hills Knights are now equal sixth following their 2-1 win over Adelaide United Youth in Round 16 of PlayStation 4 NPL South Australia at The Parks.

Adelaide United Youth v Para Hills Knights

Coming up from their battle near the bottom of the league table, to existing in the race with the top six, it is fair to say that the Knights have come a long way since the start of the season.

Dylan Centrone opened the scoring, giving his side the lead with a stunning chip into the back of the net.

Although Adelaide United equalised  through Nathan Konstandopoulos, the beautiful strike was out-weighed by Robbie McDonald’s winner for the visitors, after the skirmish of possession throughout the match.

The Knights have recorded their third consecutive win, and will be confident ahead of the remainder of the season and finals contention.

United kept up with Para Hills’ physicality, but were unable to get another one back for the remainder of the match.

Neither side were able to get on the front foot in the opening minutes, tussling for possession in midfield.

Cumberland United v West Adelaide

A Tommy Briscoe hat-trick was the highlight of West Adelaide’s victory over Cumberland United in a game that at best can only be described as a real scrap between two desperate sides.

The first ten minutes of the game was a patchy display of football, with missed timed passes and plenty of turnovers, as both sides struggled to get into any rhythm. The defences were kept busy repelling any forward advances with long balls out of their respective defensive halves.

West Adelaide got into gear after twenty minutes, and had a good chance to go a goal ahead when Eli Vlassis whipped in a cross from the right that found an unmarked Kyle Krout in the eighteen-yard box, but the youngster’s shot flew just past the upright.

The game opened up on the half hour with both sides creating goal scoring opportunities.

Cumberland had a goal disallowed for an off-side strike by Harley Gepp.

While at the other end of the park, Briscoe had a great one on one challenge with Cumberland Keeper Luke Schoen, but his shot on goal was deflected by a great save.
