PS4 NPL Queensland Preview: Round 7

Another exciting PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland weekend begins with an all top-four affair on Friday before Redlands United welcome Sunshine Coast in the Round 7 live stream match.

Olympic FC v Brisbane Strikers FC
Friday, 24 April / Goodwin Park / 7:00PM

Brisbane Strikers face another test of their early title favouritism on Friday night with a visit to local rivals Olympic FC.

Strikers drew 1-1 with fellow challengers Moreton Bay United last round to retain top spot, but will be without Jheison Macuace at Goodwin Park after the livewire attacker saw a late second yellow against Jets.

Olympic, who could welcome back midfielder Scott Bow, are tracking toward top form after coming from a goal down to beat Brisbane City 3-1 a week ago.

Victory by two or more goals would see former champions Olympic kick-off the weekend in first.

Redlands United FC v Sunshine Coast FC
Saturday, 25 April / Cleveland Showgrounds / 3:00PM

Sunshine Coast have surprised many so far under player/coach Paul Arnison’s first-time stewardship, recording two of the most impressive results of any team over the past couple of rounds.

Reyze Kelly and Jacob Fulluck were on the scoresheet again as Fire put three past reigning champions Palm Beach SC following a 5-1 win in Townsville, moving them one point off the top four.

That form poses concern to hosts Redlands United, who need to improve on just three goals in four games if they are to notch a first three points of the season.

South West Queensland Thunder FC v Palm Beach SC
Saturday, 25 April / West Wanderers / 5:00PM

Palm Beach SC’s title defence is yet to get going with two losses from three keeping the double-winners in ninth.

Compensating for the departure of last season’s Golden Boot winner Chris Lucas has proved difficult with Sharks netting six goals in five games compared to 16 this time last year.

SWQ Thunder will be relieved to return to Toowoomba for only the second time after consecutive trips to Cairns and Townsville.

Those two rounds reaped zero goals scored and 11 conceded, but their only home match to date was the scene of a confidence-boosting draw with Brisbane Roar Youth.

Northern Fury FC v Brisbane City FC
Saturday, 25 April / Townsville Sports Reserve / 7:00PM

Northern Fury are arguably the most difficult PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland team to predict after three losses and as many wins to start the season.

The Townsville team will be determined to make it consecutive victories for the first time this term when Brisbane City head north for interim coach Darron Heselden’s second game in charge.

City struck first against Olympic last week in an improved performance and will look to the scorer of that goal, talisman Antonio Murray, to lead a young side in search of an upset and first win of 2015.

FNQ FC Heat v Western Pride FC
Saturday, 25 April / Endeavour Park / 7:30pm

Saturday’s final fixture could be the most informative of Round 7 as FNQ Heat host the third-placed Western Pride.

Karl Dodd’s young Ipswich outfit bounced back last week but are yet to travel beyond Brisbane, ensuring this weekend’s journey to Cairns will be a true test.

It doesn’t get any easier for Heat, meanwhile, who come up against an in-form opposition for the third week running ahead of Moreton Bay United’s visit.

Martin Docherty’s men were unbeaten in three prior to their past two losses and will eye the next fortnight as the chance to make a strong statement.

Moreton Bay United FC v Brisbane Roar FC Youth

This match has been postponed and will be a rescheduled at a later date.
