PS4 NPL Queensland Final Round Preview

The PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Premiership race comes down to the final matches of the regular season this weekend.

SWQ Thunder FC v Moreton Bay United FC
Saturday, August 29 / Commonwealth Oval / 5:00PM

Moreton Bay United are in the box seat for the Premiership, boasting a two goal advantage atop the standings ahead of their final match against bottom-placed SWQ Thunder in Toowoomba.

In the Jets' favour is Thunder’s unenviable record of not having won a game in PlayStation4 NPL Queensland in nearly two seasons, but there will be no better time for the hosts to break their duck than against the league-leaders.

The Commonwealth Oval venue is more compact than Thunder’s regular home ground, meaning Jets will have their work cut-out for them to create space.

If ever a match shaped up as a potential banana-skin, then this is it.

Brisbane City FC v Palm Beach SC
Saturday, August 29 / Corporate Travel Management Stadium / 6:00PM

Despite both City and Sharks being out of Finals Series contention, there is still plenty on the line for both sides in their final match of the season.

The Sharks players will be looking to fine-tune and sure up their places ahead of next week’s blockbuster Westfield FFA Cup Round of 16 tie against Western Sydney Wanderers.

While for City, the match offers a final chance to impress in match conditions before newly appointed coach John Kosmina takes the reins in the off-season.

With the result secondary to the performances, this match offers plenty for the neutral observer.

Brisbane Strikers FC v Northern Fury FC
Saturday, August 29 / Perry Park / 6:00PM

The final match of the season will determine the Premiership title, with the later kick-off providing Strikers with the benefit of knowing precisely how many goals they need to win the title.

With a home Semi-Final already secured and Fury out of Finals Series contention, there appears little impediment to the hosts going for broke in their quest for a maiden PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland title.

However, Fury boast form against Strikers this year - winning their previous meeting 5-2 in Townsville only a month ago. It promises to be a thrilling climax to the regular season.
